This is a digital art piece I based upon a photo I took during a visit to the Willamette Heritage Center, Salem, Oregon. The view is from the perspective of a person sitting at table at one of the Methodist mission houses.
I believe that part of being made in God's image includes being a co-creator with the Creator. Creating visual art is one way I have done this since childhood. I was given great encouragement to learn and practice during my days in the Cleveland (Ohio) Public Schools. I studied illustration at Kendall School of Design (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and fine art at Hope College (Holland, Michigan). While studying for two seminary degrees, M.A. Peace Studies at Goshen Biblical Seminary (Elkhart, Indiana) and Master of Divinity, Bethany Theological Seminary (Oakbrook, Illinois), I incorporated various forms of visual art into my class presentations.
